Dirt Track Racing Season is Over for Pennsylvania

Dirt track auto racing has it highlights and it's low lights.  This is the time of the year when every dirt track racing fan and every dirt track driver goes through a bit of withdrawal.

Jeremy had to take most of the year off. . . for a good reason though.  Lots of changes were taking place in his family life.  Congratulations to Jeremy and Sara on the birth of their newest little auto racing fan.  He has been a handful and is a bundle of ever loving joy.  With the way he races around the room, he'll be ready for his time on the track not too far in the future!  I don't know if you can see this picture very well but that is daddy's little boy in his own race car bouncer.  He is just so cute.

Zayne acting just like his daddy and getting ready for the big time on the dirt track.

Jeremy has a few irons in the fire.  He sold this car and will be getting another one now that things are settling down.  He is working on a few dirt track auto racing related things that should be exciting for everyone who loves dirt track racing.  We will keep you posted.  We did have to take some time off to help raise the little one, but will be back in full swing, hopefully this summer.

Happy Baby!

Just like daddy!
Revving up the engines!

Thanks for stopping by dirt track auto racing.  We will try to post again soon.  Have a safe winter season.

In Need of Sponsors for 2016 Dirt Track Late Model

Sorry that it's been awhile since we've given any updates.  Jeremy is hard at work trying to find new sponsors for 2016 since Joy dropped their support of any of their outside dirt track and Nascar racers. This was a sudden, unexpected cut so there was no time to prepare for 2015.

Jeremy works hard at his job all day and long into many evenings and has little time to do his search for a solid, reliable sponsor.  He appreciates all that Joy did in helping him forward his racing career and is saddened by their decision, but it's time to move on.

If anyone is in need of advertising their businesses, please contact Jeremy via comment on this blog.

Thank you in advance and we are hopefully looking forward to 2016, once again, on the dirt track.

Jeremy Zufall Pulls of 2nd Place at the Sharon Speedway "Apple Fest" Dirt Track Auto Racing Event

Great job on the dirt track Jeremy!  After a very long weekend, all ended well.  Jeremy finished 2nd after battling Greg Martin for the entire race.

Night two of "Apple Fest" at Sharon Speedway started off so much better for the Joy Global # 20 with a good pill draw. That put him starting 3rd in the heat race. He got the green and he slid into 2nd place until Adam Hilton from NY got around on him. (He was Friday Nights feature Winner.) He came home 3rd in the 8 lap Heat. After the redraw it put the #20 starting 1st for the 15 lap feature. When the green dropped we had the early led put got passed and went back to 2nd and at the waving of the checkered flags he crossed the line in solid 2nd place finish between the two NY Drivers in the 10 car field.

RUSH Sportsman Modifieds:

Greg Martin continued his dominance of the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds at Sharon Speedway with his fourth feature win in five tries!

The Western New York native has made the haul to many of the weekly shows in the inaugural season of the series as has Adam Hilton, who's supplied the greatest amount of pressure to Martin's wins in 2014.

But, Jeremy Zufall has also had some strong runs this season and Saturday night may have been one of his best as Martin checked out early in the 15 lap feature. Behind them, Hilton had his hands full from the mid pack in his attempt to run Martin down. It took a last lap pass on Larry Kugel to for Hilton to snag the final podium spot.

Top 5:
1. Greg Martin
2. Jeremy Zufall
3. Adam Hilton
4. Larry Kugel
5. Andy Paden

Congratulations to all of the dirt track auto racers.

6 DIVISIONS OF RACING EXCITEMENT SLATED FOR SATURDAY AT SHARON BEFORE TUESDAY’S OHIO SPRINT SPEEDWEEK
By Mike Leone

June 19, 2013 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Hartford, OH)…With summer in full force, it’s been a busy stretch for Sharon Speedway with a pair of events last week now two more slated within the next week. “Steel Valley Thunder” racing will resume this Saturday, June 22

COME WATCH JEREMY RACE ON THE OVAL DIRT TRACK

followed by Ohio Speedweek for the All Star Sprints on Tuesday, June 25.

Sharon has completed 11 straight events and will look to make it 12 on Saturday as good weather is predicted. Saturday is Joy Global Night and will feature the Governor Insurance Agency DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, Barris Supply RUSH Late Models, Summit Racing Equipment Modifieds, Gibson Insurance Agency Stock Cars, HTMA/Precise Racing Products Econo Mods, and the Deforest Used Parts Mini Stocks. Racing begins at 7 p.m.

Once again Saturday night, one lucky boy and girl under the age of 14 will win a bicycle or scooter thanks to King Bros. and Sharon Speedway. This promotion will continue throughout the 2013 season. Saturday’s kitchen special is sauerkraut and kielbasa with mashed potatoes.

After what looked like Jim Weller, Jr. was clearly the dominate car with his new Troyer in the DIRTcar Big-Block Modifieds, Rex King has stepped up his game with two consecutive victories after struggling since his April 27 win. Weller’s lead has shrunk to 12 points over King in the Governor Insurance Agency Championship point chase. The two veterans have gone at it now for some 30 years at Sharon!

Two-time winner Rex King, Jr. is third in points with one-time victor Dave Murdick fourth. Ricky Richner and Eric Gabany have been two great additions to the weekly field this year with their “358” small-blocks and are fifth and sixth respectively in points. Richner is coming off his season best run in third one week after a season worst ninth place finish.

More Sharon Speedway Dirt Track Results

Dennis Lunger, Jr. kicked off a great weekend for himself in Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Weekly Series action winning his third of the season last Saturday then went and made his first ever start Sunday at Allegheny Mountain Raceway a successful one. Lunger leads the Sharon points by a whopping 49 over defending champion Will Thomas III. Lunger is also the highest Sharon regular in the $5,000 to-win Sweeney Weekly Championship points as he sits fourth. Third through fifth in Sharon points are Josh Double, Matt Latta, and Eric Wilson.

It was quite a week for Modified racer Mike Kinney. The Ashtabula, Ohio driver won his season’s first on June 8, finished fourth in the $2,000 to-win UEMS event on June 12 then found victory lane for the second time in a week last Saturday night! Kinney now has a 16-point lead on Jeff Johnson in search of his first ever championship in the Summit Racing Equipment-sponsored division. Joe Gabrielson is just two points behind Johnson in third. Early point leader Alan Dellinger has dropped to fourth over Shawn Shingledecker.

The Stock Cars turned in their biggest count for a regular show this season last Saturday at 18 and the highest since the open show on May 26. Ironically, Rod Laskey was the winner of both of those shows. After battling for the championship last year, Laskey has only made four Sharon starts this year, but has made them count with two wins, a second, and a fourth!

While in the Gibson Insurance Agency point chase, Mike Clark sits atop the standings by 14 over defending champion Tim Burns. Clark, who has never won a championship either, is having his career best season with two wins this far. Third through fifth are Paul Davis, Jamie Scharba, and Brian Carothers.

The battles between 17-year-old Jeremy Double and 12-year-old Jacob Eucker in the Econo Mods have sure stirred the interest of the crowd. Double of nearby Bristolville, Ohio has four wins to Hartford, Ohio racer Eucker’s three. The two compete side-by-side up front seemingly week in and week out.

Another three-time winner, Ryan Fraley, has been the more consistent of the trio as he has a five-point advantage on Double in the HTMA/Precise Racing Products point chase heading into Saturday. Eucker trails the point leader by just 17. One-time winner Steve Burns, Jr. and rookie Ty Rhoades round out the top five.

Travis Creech is having quite the rookie season. The Mini Stock racer won his third of the season last Saturday night and has battled his way to second in the Deforest Used Parts points closing the gap to 39 behind five-time winner Scott Gilliland.

Pits open at 4 p.m. Saturday with grandstands at 5 and heat races slated for 7. Grandstand admission for those 14 and over is $13, while children under 14 are always free. Pit passes are $25. Parking and camping is always free.

Don’t forget that coming up on next Tuesday (June 25) will be the first of four Sprint Car shows in 2013 at Sharon! The first event will be an All Star Circuit of Champions-sanctioned event as part of Ohio Speedweek with the winner pocketing $5,000. The Econo Mods ($350 to-win) and Mini Stocks ($200 to-win) will be part of the program in points-paying events. Qualifying for the Sprints will get underway at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Sharon Speedway is owned by the Blaney, Weller, and Kirila Families and is a 3/8-mile dirt track located on Custer-Orangeville Road in Hartford, Ohio near the intersection of Routes 7 & 305. Dirt Track Auto Racing Season Preparation - New Engine

Jeremy is making progress on building his new, 2013 dirt track auto racing car #20, Fastrak Late Model.  He was able to finally get the new motor, thanks to the help of his family, so we thought we'd share a pic.  Hopefully, with a few more tweaks, he will be able to get on the track soon.

Here's the pic of his Late Model under the hood.   See you at the track!

This year Joy Mining and Manufacturing Company will once again be the main sponsor for Jeremy's #20.  Thank you for another year.  Progress is being made as the season is now started.  Weekends will be devoted to building the new car and getting on the track as quickly as possible.  We will keep you updated.

Jeremy Zufall Roaring Knob Dirt Track Race Results October 19, 2012

Results from this past weekend dirt track FASTRAK racing at Roaring Knob:

Qualifying and Heat races were Friday night. Jeremy finished 6th in the 3rd heat, missing the transfer spot to the A main by one. After a rain out Saturday, when racing resumed on Sunday, he won the 2nd B Main from the pole to transfer to the A main. This put him starting 21st, only to have a short night by getting hit and causing the steering rack to break in the car. This ended the night with a 23rd place finish. Jeremy won the B Main and made the A Feature!

Friday night Jeremy got started with qualifying and four drivers were able to lower Max Blair’s previous track record of 16.897 set at the last Tour event on September 28 led by Will Thomas with a new standard of 16.631! Thomas also won the first heat race in addition to Pegher, Blair, and Flinner, who also all had laps faster than the previous standard. B main winners on Sunday were Brian Knowles and Jeremy Zufall.

B Main #2 (8 laps/Top 2 transfer to A): 1. Jeremy Zufall 2. K.C. Burdette 3. Ryan Montgomery 4. Toby Massie 5. Ron Smithley 6. Scott Chenowetch 7. J.T. Baird-DNS

Jeremy Zufall Dog Hollow Race Results July 6th 2012

Another interesting night at Dog Hollow as Jeremy finishes 5th in the rained out make up Feature.  Here are the results from Dog Hollow's website:

Stoystown Auto Wreckers FASTRAK Late Models Make Up Feature from June 29 (15):  Mike Laughard, Joe Moyer, John Eckenrod, Tim Snare, Jr., Jeremy Zufall, Jeremy Shaffer, Joey Petyak, John Mazey, Butch Moyer, Ed Kline, Wes McKeel, Rich Logan, Andrew Satterlee, DNS:  Bernie Whiteford, and Howdy Eckenrod.

Jeremy started in the 4th place position, but then he spun out and had to go to the end of the line.  He made a great come back though, driving aggressively and winding up in 5th place.

In the regular feature for the night, a couple of cars sandwiched him in and one in front of him wrecked.  That was a problem as his car was pretty badly damaged (the shell was at least).  He left the track and it didn't look like he was going to make it back out onto the track.  As we started to walk away we heard the roar of his engines making his way back on the track just as the race started again.  He passed a few cars but wasn't able to make up much more ground then that.  You can see the pics here of the damage that was done to his Late Model.  We're glad that no one was hurt as a result of the crashes though.

Jeremy Zufall Race Results Dog Hollow June 30 2012

Dirt Track Auto Racing Results From Joy Manufacturing Company:  June 30 results from Dog Hollow Speedway:
Good job Jeremy.  Jeremy Zufall took 2nd in the 8 lap Heat Race at Dog Hollow.  After the redraw, he was shown on the board starting 5th in feature but got moved to 4th, due to some issues with the 2 car. He got out on the track, but mother nature had other plans. The rain and lighting took everyone to the pits for a rain out.  Double features will be next Fri at Dog Hollow Speedway.  See you on the dirt track July 6, 2012.

Race Results from Dog Hollow Friday May 25 2011 Jeremy Zufall

Jeremy Zufall lead for 14 laps but with so many start and stop cautions, and quite a few "friendly" bumps from his competitors, he was edged out in the end.  He kept his own and was up with the regular winners the whole race at one time even being several car lengths ahead.   His own video is uploaded on the side wall.  Enjoy.

Jeremy Zufall Last Race of the Dirt Track Season 2011

Last Race of the Dirt Track Auto Racing Season Results.
The cold is upon us and the Fastrak Late Model is covered up to be worked on until the next race of the season in the spring.  For Jeremy's final race of the season, he did a great job in spite of getting caught up in a wreck.  He started 16th and was passing for 6th place when the leader spun out and he got caught up in the wreck. He ended up working his way to a 9th/20 car field!  Not a bad way to end the season.
Jeremy is looking forward to working on his car this winter and making more modifications that will help him move up in the ranks.  Overall, in spite of a few setbacks and wrecks, it was a good year.
Hope to see you on the dirt track next year.

Jeremy Z Moved up from 15th to 8th at Roaring Knob Dirt Track Saturday September 3, 2011

It was a beautiful, but toasty hot evening when the dirt track races started at Roaring Knob on Saturday night.  Jeremy and his dad were both racing.  His dad raced the charger event and Jeremy the Fastrak Late Model event.  There were numerous caution lights due to wrecks, all through the night.  The field started with 21 cars and ended with about 18.  Jeremy was placed 15th in the feature but went on to move up and finish a solid 8th place.  It was a good race that required a lot of skill to avoid so many spin outs and accidents.  Jeremy's dad Jim allowed a new driver to participate in the heat races while Jim raced in the feature event.  Both had a good night over all.

Joy, Jeremy's main sponsor is holding a special race this evening, Sunday, September 4th at Roaring Knob.  It's looking a lot like rain right now so there is a chance it may be called off.  If not, go out and enjoy an evening at the dirt track.

Fun, in the sun, at the Roaring Knob Speedway Dirt Track!

Jeremy Zufall Racing at Dog Hollow Friday August 12, 2011 - Come Watch!

It looks like we may actually get a Friday night at the dirt track without even a chance of rain.  Tonight, Thursday, August 11th would have been a fantastic race night. Tomorrow night is supposed to be the same beautiful weather at Dog Hollow Raceway.

The last time Jeremy raced his car was badly damaged.  It's still banged up looking in spots.  The beautiful wrap job that Joy did has taken a beating, but hopefully, after Friday night, something good will happen on the dirt track.

It's been several weeks now since he's raced, with race tracks canceling and closing to the dismay of many of the drivers.  Even Joy night had to be canceled because Tri City actually closed it's doors to dirt track auto racing for good.  No one really knows the story and if they do, a comment or two would be appreciated.  It seemed as though they were having trouble maintaining their track because their water source was dried up.  I'm sure it's expensive to try to keep a track going and with all of the rainouts we had this year, the owners everywhere, as well as the drivers, have had to take some losses.

Come out to the Dog Hollow Racetrack on Friday night and watch the dirt track auto racers do their thing and especially watch Jeremy Zufall #20 and cheer him on.  See you there!

Tri City Dirt Track Auto Racing Event Sponsored by Joy Rained Out Last Night

It was a beautiful, hot, very hot day and things were looking up for a great race at Tri City Dirt Track Auto Racing Joy sponsored event, but the weather turned for the worse.  The storm came out of nowhere right up through Butler PA and onto the race track.  The lightning was fierce and the rain came down in buckets.  We were hoping it was only going to be a scattered thunderstorm lasting only a few minutes, but that was not to be.

This was Jeremy's newly wrapped car after the wreck demolished the front end and bent the frame in his last race at Dog Hollow Dirt Track two weeks ago.  Great job Joy.

The pre-race events for the Joy drivers consisted of a tour of the Joy plant, a nice lunch, pictures of all of the dirt track cars and their Nascar truck, and then off to the track.  Everyone was excited.  Many drove a long way to participate.  Some took off work.  It happens.  Although it was a disappointment this time, hopefully there will be another Joy sponsored dirt track race in the near future.  Thanks for trying Joy!
