Married and Sick

When you’re married for 30 years you don’t think much about the other spouse being sick, you just turn on the direct tv and heat up some soup and just try not to get it yourself. I know that sounds totally silly but when my husband got ill last month I figured it was a cold just like any other since he’s prone to them so I didn’t even make him go to the doctor until the next week. Well when we did go and after hours of tests and specialists we got terrible news – it’s actually cancer and my husband’s going to have to go through radiation but I’m just glad he has me to support him through it all. I love him to death and he’s got really great odds and we caught it early so I know we’ll come out of this happier and healthier than ever. Who would have thought life would lead us here after all this time together? I guess that’s what marriage is all about.
